The 3rd AMEBS (Asociacion Mutual de Empleados de Bienestar Social) took
place in La Plata Argentina November 16 -
27. La Plata is the capital of province Buenos Aires (Argentinians call the
city Buenos Aires 'Capital Federal', something like
Washington DC. It isn't part of Buenos Aires Province.) After starting with
6/6 Bent Larsen then lost his next two games and
had to wait until the final round to secure the draw he needed to take the
tournament. My thanks to Telmo Escobar and
Herman Claudius van Riemsdijk who sent news of the event.
