Standings after eight rounds: Emms 6, Lalic 5.5, Kumaran, Aagaard, Parker 5, Hoffmann, Summerscale, McDonald 3.5 Pedersen, Dunnington 1.5.
So, the situation is very exciting going into the last round with the pairings as follows:
Round 9
Aagaard-Kumaran Dunnington-Pedersen Hoffmann-McDonald Emms-Parker Summerscale-Lalic
Parker has the tough job of beating Emms with the Black pieces for his GM norm.
Aagaard has recovered from a bad patch with some luck and must now win to acore his first GM norm. However his opponent must also win for his third and final GM norm and title!
Good games are anticipated, and IM Matthew Turner will be commentating on these two critical games throughout.
