Commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Grupo de Xadrez do Porto
OPORTO INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT
(XII OPEN OF PORTUGAL)
With the special support of OPORTO COUNCIL BOARD and of the PORTUGUESE CHESS FEDERATION
REGULATION
GRUPO DE XADREZ DO PORTO will organize this tournament, which is opened to the participation of every chess player independent of affiliation and/or nationality. The Tournament is specially sponsored by the Counclil Board of Oporto, and is also supported by the Portuguese Chess Federation and Oporto Chess Clubs Association.
The Tournament will take place from 22nd july till 30th July 2000, in the noble room of CLUBE FENIANOS PORTUENSES (Rua do Clube Fenianos Portuenses, right close to Oporto City Hall.
Swiss Tournament in 9 rounds. It will be homologated to FIDE for international Elo rating.
The pairings will be made with PROTOS or Swiss Perfect system.
2 hours/player for finish (no intermediate control)
1st round : 22/7 - 20h00 |

Players mising three rounds will be excluded.
The Tournament Director will be Mr. Álvaro Brandão, presidente of GRUPO DE XADREZ DO PORTO.
A arbiters will be designated by the Arbiter Counsil Board of Asociação de Xadrez do Porto.
When two players are tied with same score, the following criteria apply (by this order):
1 - Buchholz standard without lowest score;
2 – sum of opponent’s Buchholz without lowest score;
3 - número of won games.

The period for registration ens on the 19th July, 2000 by 6h00 PM.
When registering, the following data should be given for each player: full name, short name, nationality, sex, data of birth, Elo (International and/or national), no. of affiliation in FIDE - if applicable.
Due to logistic reasons, only the 160 first registrations will be considered.
The registration fees are: 3.000 escudos / player > 18 years;
1.500 escudos / player < 18 years
The members of G.X.P. will have a 50% discount.
Players with FIDE titles GM. MI e MF – free.
Omissions wll be resolved by the Tournament Director.
A registration infers full acceptance of the pesent regulation.

Obs:
The prize money will be given in accordance the classification. There will be no division by players with equal score.
For the attribution of the prize to the 1st young player, will be considered the players under 18 years old at the beginning of the tournament.
The winners of 1st Portuguese, 1st player of Oporto, 1st Feminin, 1st Young and 1st Veteran can not accumulate these prize with the one eventually obtained in the general classification; therefore they should choose the prize that will interest.
The prizes will be given on the 30th July, by 3h00 pm, and the presence of the awarded players is required, otherwise they will be loosing the right to the prizes.
